Awards season may have passed, but the gorgeous looks from the red carpet are timeless. There were so many gorgeous trends this year and with everything from hair to makeup, glamour was the statement of the season! Hair was no exception with some of the best looks happening on the hottest stars. Of course, the creative team at Moroccanoil made every effort to project nothing but perfection. Here is the scoop on the looks the created for some of the celebs at the Oscars:

Nicole Kidman at the 85th Annual Academy Awards
Hair Design by Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak for Moroccanoil®

Film star Nicole Kidman looked dazzling on the Oscar Red Carpet, wearing a shimmering black and gold L’Wren Scott gown and an elegant hair look designed by celebrity stylist Mara Roszak for Moroccanoil®.

“Nicole’s look was very glamorous, and I wanted to go with a textured updo that was a bit tousled,” said Mara Roszak.  Hair was parted in the middle, with a loose chignon pulled to one side, and pieces falling forward to frame the face.

How The Look Was Created

  • "I first applied a bit of Moroccanoil Treatment Light for shine and smoothness, starting at the ends.
  • "I scrunched in a bit of Moroccanoil Curl Control Mousse, worked it through the roots, and blow dried her hair using a small round brush to hold in body and texture.
  • "To define the texture and highlight movement and wave, I touched the hair up on the sides and top with a 1” curing iron, taking random sections so that the waves were not too perfect and looked more natural.

  • "Next, I loosely gathered and pulled hair to the side, twisted it and created a loose bun shape, adding bobby pins as I went to hold it in place.

  • "Once the bun was made, I sprayed on Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium, mostly on the bun, and let certain pieces fall out in front of ear and toward the face, then lightly sprayed the entire look.

Amy Adams at the 85th Annual Academy Awards

Hair Design by Laini Reeves for Moroccanoil

Amy Adams looked absolutely breathtaking in a spectacular pale blue Oscar de la Renta ball gown with hair designed by celebrity stylist Laini Reeves for Moroccanoil.

Her beautiful hair look blended a touch of 50’s glamour with a modern textural edge that flawlessly complemented the couture gown. “I was inspired by the detailing of the amazing design Amy wore,” said Laini Reeves. “The hair shape is classic. However, I made the texture a little more tousled, created a crown with a little bit of a backcomb that didn’t look too stiff or perfect, and swept her hair back into a messy modern chignon.”

How The Look Was Created

  • I started with Moroccanoil Extra Volume Shampoo followed with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Conditioner. I applied Moroccanoil Treatment Light on the ends to smooth and control them when I was ready to create the chignon.

  • Next, I used Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse and blow dried the hair, keeping the hair moving upwards at the roots for as much lift as possible.

  • I then set hair with large size sponge rollers to create texture, spraying each section with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong before rolling. After giving the entire set another spray, I left them in for half an hour.

  • After I removed the rollers, I gently finger-brushed the hair, then used a backcombing brush to create padding at the roots, especially at the crown.

  • I brought back all the hair and tied it into a loose ponytail at the nape of the neck (about 2” away from the scalp), then pushed it back to the nape and up to create a nice high crown.

  • To complete the look, I gently backcombed the ponytail and sprayed it with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong.  I then rolled it into a messy chignon, letting a bit of the backcombing show, and pinned it in place.

Kerry Washington at the 85th Annual Academy Awards
Hair Design by Takisha Sturdivant-Drew for Moroccanoil

Kerry Washington, the beautiful star of Django Unchained, made a glittering Oscar red carpet entrance wearing a glamorous coral Miu Miu gown and hair designed by celebrity stylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew for Moroccanoil.

“When I saw the amazing goddess gown that Kerry was wearing, I knew that her hair had to be long and classic,” said Takisha Sturdivant-Drew. To complement the elegant design, Sturdivant-Drew highlighted volume and movement in the hair look, letting it flow down and behind the shoulders. She also added touch of fullness at the sides, and flattering height at the crown to emphasize a soft modern mood.

How The Look Was Created

  • "I first shampooed Kerry’s hair with Moroccanoil Extra Volume Shampoo and Moroccanoil Extra Volume Conditioner."

  • "Next, I added Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse to large sections for soft volume, emphasizing the root area.  Since Kerry’s hair is naturally curly, we straightened it first by blow drying with a comb attachment.  I then went back and blow dried different sections of the hair for added volume at the root."

  • "Using a 1½ “ curling iron, I created large, loose S-waved sections, starting at the nape and working up to sides and top."

  • "After sectioning off the top and back of the hair, I teased the crown and sides for lift and volume, then combed over the hair lightly and brought it back down."

  • "To hold the style without any stiffness, I sprayed on Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong from about 3” away. This product works really well for this look because it’s so lightweight, won’t flake, and it holds the hair while allowing it to move."

Zoe Saldana at the 85th Annual Academy Awards
Hair Design by Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak for Moroccanoil

Zoe Saldana made a dramatic entrance on the Oscar red carpet wearing an elegant Alexis Mabille gown, and hair designed by celebrity stylist Mara Roszak for Moroccanoil.

“The dress was very modern, and I wanted to create a simple hair look that had a chic, French feel to it, and to look clean, healthy and beautiful,” said Mara Roszak. The look had a glamorous and feminine 30’s mood, further softened into a loose wave and parted to the side.

How The Look Was Created
  • "I started by applying Moroccanoil Treatment to wet hair for a beautiful, natural looking shine, and then blow-dried."

  • "Next, I parted the hair to one side, then waved it with 1.5" barrel iron, working away from her face."

  • "After the hair was waved, I brushed it out lightly with a Moroccanoil XLPRO Paddle Brush, then tucked it behind her ears since I wanted it to keep it behind her shoulders."

  • "I then sprayed the entire look with Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray for even more shine."

  • "To finish, I sprayed with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium for a hold that looked soft, natural and let the hair move."
